our services

Powers of Attorney

We feel strongly that having a Power of Attorney is a most valuable asset in future planning. Through our work with charities and carer groups we have seen families distress compounded due to the absence of a Power of Attorney.

Protecting your children's inheritance

Ensuring that the money you have worked hard to earn is passed on to your children and grandchildren is an important part of estate planning, according to one Courier Country legal company.

Planning for the Future

Many of our clients seek advice on Wills and Powers of Attorney irrespective of age or diagnosis, they are simply looking to make provision for the future. We can advise on all aspects of Wills including setting up a Trust provision.

Guardianship and intervention orders

In order to authorise where the person resides, the care the person should receive and how that care should be delivered a relative needs to apply to the Court for Guardianship.

Executry administration

We deal with all aspects of winding up the estate of a deceased person, whether or not a will is in existence. Above all we understand that this is a very difficult time for families and as such we aim to act in a respectful, responsive and efficient manner at all times.

Learning disabilities law

When a child with a learning disability reaches the age of 16 they are classed as an adult and as such parental rights are extinguished. It is therefore necessary for parents to make a guardianship application, in order to have legal authority to make welfare decisions on behalf of their child.

Dementia & the Law

We specialise in advising families looking after a relative with dementia in connection with Powers of Attorney and Guardianship applications, in order to ensure that where a person has a dementia diagnosis then a family member has legal rights to make welfare decisions on their behalf.

Elaine Milne, Carer Support Worker (SEARCH Project)

    Elaine and Michael Low
  • "Lorna provides an amazing service and although her company is relatively new in the field it's something that she is very passionate about and I wish her all the best as she isn't a person who understands from a textbook she understands first hand and knows the trials and tribulations any carer experiences. "

    Hannah Samson,Baillieston

"Thanks again for all your help. I wept when I came off the phone from talking with you. Part relief, part thankfulness. I would give you the [Scottish Care] award in the blink of an eye. I'm so relieved after your efforts."

    Diana Sievewright, Edinburgh

"I must commend you for offering such an invaluable service to the families of vulnerable people and giving legal advice in such a relaxed and informal manner. "

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed the input which you gave at the recent SDS training session in Glasgow. I think your service is very unique and carers and people with dementia will benefit greatly. "

Kerry Rennie, Dementia Support Co-ordinator, Kilbirnie

"The workshop style was very user friendly and informative. The presenter used the right approach to workshop presentation. She understood the needs of her audience. Hence she used plain English and minimum legal jargon. "

Ben Yeung, Edinburgh Chinese Elderly Support Association

"I met Lorna at a carers group. At the time I had appointed a solicitor as my Attorney as I have no family, however I wasn't happy as he never had any time to see me. I met with Lorna and knew that I wanted her to be my Welfare and Financial Attorney. She has spent time getting to know me and understanding my wishes. I am confident that if I ever need her to make decisions on my behalf she will be there. "

    Anne Rennie, Kirkcaldy
  • "Lorna undertook a guardianship application for me. She was so helpful and easy to talk to. Once the Guardianship was through I gave her a thank you card and filled it with gold stars. The message on the card was simple "stars for a star". I just can't thank her enough. "

    Rosemary Beveridge, Glenrothes
